The decanters are essential in the processes of concentration and thickening of sludge.
Their basic principle is the decantation and the reduction of solids in the waters to treat, by means of a physical sedimentation.
The thickening allows to reduce the costs and elevate the efficiency in the filtering installations.
Their design must accomplish the following:
The possible blockage in the sludge purge causes serious operation trouble, and so it is not convenient to place the tanks on the floor without a gallery.
It is the basic element of the decanter and it must be:
- Robust and low speed.
- It must incorporate elevation mechanism, either manual or automatic, to ease the solving of blockages and give a long lifetime to the mechanism.
- It has to incorporate a load cell in the drive to be able to know the charge level of the decanter and activate the elevation mechanism, and in addition, to perform the sludge purge at the required concentration automatically.
AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT
It must be of autonomous operation, automatic and with adjustable dosing.
It allows the optimization of the additives consumption, regulating their dosing according to the flocculation of the inlet sludge.
It works as a mixture chamber and feeds the decanter.
